eQonaq: A Mobile App for Immigration Data Collection and Processing
eQonaq is a mobile application developed by Kazakh Tourism for legal and physical entities to collect, record, and process data on incoming immigrants and internal migrants. According to Government Resolution No. 148, receiving entities are required to inform the internal affairs authorities of the arrival of foreign citizens within three days. By scanning the guest's passport using the device's camera, the application instantly sends a notification of their arrival to the immigration control authorities. The app recognizes documents from over 190 countries. Guests' email addresses can also be added to receive useful information for tourists, including possible visa-free stay periods in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
eQonaq is part of the information system created as part of the Ministry of Culture and Sports' state program for tourism development, with the assistance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The app is available in three languages: Kazakh, Russian, and English.
